Good news! This month global food prices fell for the first time after an 8 month increase.
Don't celebrate just yet because food still costs 37% more than it did a year ago. If you're like me, even a small trip to the supermarket comes with a 100 dollar price tag and that's just for the basics.
On top of rising food prices (to add insult to injury), global median incomes are falling as countries still try to recover from economic recession. Not to mention all of the other increased costs of living including gasoline and energy.
I don't see how some families can do it, especially when trying to buy food products that are healthy and not tainted with pesticides, hormones, and preservatives.
